One out of every four older adults in the U.S. falls annually, resulting in about 3 million emergency department visits each year.

Medical alert buttons help, but many seniors are too embarrassed to wear them. Additionally, not every fall requires medical intervention, yet standard systems trigger emergency alerts every time.

The team of physicians behind FallCall saw a way to patch these holes in elder care.

A smarter alternative to the “help button.”

FallCall wanted to create a smartwatch-based system that could not only detect falls, but differentiate between severity levels and either contact emergency services or caregivers accordingly. We helped them build it.

Discrete emergency response system.

FallCall’s 24/7 emergency monitoring is there when needed, and invisible when not. Elders can now go about their day securely, without the need of a bulky, often stigmatized help button.

FallCall Detect's breakthrough technology distinguishes between falls.

Some falls are more likely to cause injury than others. If a high-impact fall is detected, emergency monitoring is immediately contacted. If a low-impact fall is detected, only caregivers are contacted.

In addition to sending real-time notifications to caregivers during an event, the app allows elders to initiate help calls using Siri shortcuts on their Apple Watch, iPhone, or HomePod.
Beyond just fall detection.

Beyond just fall detection.

Caregivers receive notification if emergency services are contacted, a fall is detected, or the elder’s heart rate becomes abnormally high or low.

By leveraging built-in WatchOS capabilities, FallCall provides a wider spectrum of monitoring and care.

For anyone who doesn't want to wear a smartwatch, FallCall also integrates with two jewelry-styled call-button pendants. And FallCall users who have a Kwikset Halo Lock can use the app to automatically unlock their door in an emergency.

Smart. Simple. Safe.

FallCall is redefining the medical alert. We’re delighted we got to take on this project and contribute to an app that supports the safety of the elders in our communities.
